Kenco Lighting Installation To Cut Electricity Use By 70% At Two Chattanooga Warehouse Facilities
Kenco, a leading provider of value-added distribution, public warehousing, comprehensive transportation services and intelligent information technology, has installed high-intensity fluorescent (HIF) technology at two of its Chattanooga logistics facilities where it expects to cut light-related electricity consumption by 70 percent.
The Compact Modular™ lights, designed and manufactured in the U.S. by Orion Energy Systems, replaced 537 high-intensity discharge fixtures in the Kenco facilities.
Anticipated greenhouse gas emission reductions of 14,000 tons over the fixtures’ 20-year lifecycle are the air-scrubbing equivalent of a 149-acre forest—or removing 137 cars from the road—according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The emission reductions are also equal to cutting 78,475 gallons of gasoline annually.
According to Deni Albrecht, Kenco’s leader of sustainability, “These lighting upgrades represent real bottom line savings to our customers—and they are another example of how Kenco delivers common sense solutions with uncommon value. These new lighting systems will keep us competitive for years, as energy costs continue to increase and as carbon footprint reduction requirements get closer to reality in the U.S. ”
Orion’s patented, high-efficiency technology cuts light-related energy consumption by 50 percent or more, while providing about 50 percent more light than traditional, high-intensity discharge (HID) fixtures. Orion’s technology also is lightweight, easy to install, and easier to maintain.
