Whirlpool and Kenco Celebrate Grand Opening of Ft. Worth Facility
March 24, 2006

Whirlpool Ft. Worth Ribbon Cutting Whirlpool and Kenco Logistic Services celebrated a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting on Tuesday, March 23. The facility, located at 1101 Everman Parkway, will be one of Whirlpool’s largest Factory Distribution Centers (FDC) in its network.

Kenco was awarded the management of the new Whirlpool FDC late last year. The role of this FDC is to receive exclusively from the manufacturing plant in Monterey, Mexico and other FDCs. This FDC will supply the Regional Distribution Centers (RDC) with product for the stores or end-user.

This facility will add approximately 725,000 sq ft. to the Kenco-managed Whirlpool operations. Start-up for this facility was slated for late February, however due to the hard work of the on-site Kenco team the facility began receiving two weeks early. As a result, the first shipping date was moved forward an entire month. Once fully operational, this site will employ 90 Kenco workers on 4 shifts in a 24/7 operation.

Since 1979, Kenco has been a logistics partner with Whirlpool. Kenco currently operates 17 Whirlpool facilities in 16 cities that total over 3.5 million sq. ft. of warehouse space. The Regional Distribution Centers and Local Distribution Centers which Kenco operates currently receive, store, and ship Whirlpool products. In addition to that Kenco also manages home delivery and installation out of the Atlanta and Orlando RDCs.

“Kenco has really stepped up to meet the challenges of our business,” said Tom Helfrich, Whirlpool’s Senior Manager of North American Supply Chain Operations. “Whirlpool values Kenco's contributions in the start up of this facility and looks forward to a strong relationship in the future.”

“We value our long-term relationship with Whirlpool and welcome the opportunity to expand upon it,” said Ralph Price, Kenco’s Vice President of Operations over the Whirlpool account.
