Kenco recently hosted a blood drive Thursday, Sept. 14 at its facility on Amnicola Highway. Donors were treated to a cookout, and were able to get a first-hand look at a 1966 Ford Mustang.
Aside from being able to register to win the classic Mustang, many donors viewed the blood drive as a convenient time for them to help others.
“It just seemed like a great opportunity to give back to the community,” Julia Jones, Kenco Quality and Best Practices employee and first-time blood donor said.
Blood Assurance received 31 units from the one day blood drive. This will help to replenish the community’s blood supply. Every day the regional blood center needs at least 375 units to supply blood products to more than 35 hospitals in 31 counties throughout Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.
The regional blood center will award the Mustang at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 7. For more information about Blood Assurance, please call 1 (800) 962-0628 or visit www.bloodassurance.org.
