The Lexington, Kentucky-based remanufacturing operation of Komatsu America Corporation (KAC), the largest overseas subsidiary of Japan-based Komatsu International, has selected the Kenco Logistic Services as its third-party logistics provider.

“We were looking for ways to streamline operations, so that we could focus more on our core business,” said Komatsu’s Lexington Plant Manager Rob Shear.  “Kenco already had a proven track record with our Chattanooga operation, so it was a natural to bring them on board as our 3PL provider.”  According to Shear, the transition thus far has been “very smooth.”

In addition to handling all of the shipping, receiving, put-away, picking and material handling for Komatsu’s Lexington plant, Kenco has also been a part of the re-manufacturing process by handling the core return process from Komatsu distributors.

 “Remanufacturing is a tremendously fast-growing business in the United States and within the Komatsu organization,” said Shear.  “By remanufacturing components for construction and mining equipment, there’s not only a significant cost advantage for customers, but also a huge benefit to the environment.”

Established in the U.S. in 1970, Komatsu America Corporation manufactures and markets a full line of integrated construction equipment from the smallest compact construction size to the largest mining size. Its product line includes hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, crawler dozers, off-highway trucks, motor graders, skid steer loaders, tractor loaders and backhoe loaders.
