New Jersey Warehouse Fills Market Niche for New York Area
May, 29, 2008

“What began as a facility to meet the needs of one local customer has now become a public warehouse serving the full-scale logistics needs of companies throughout northern New Jersey and the adjacent New York Metro area,” said Chuck Wethington, General Manager of the Kenco Avenel, New Jersey Distribution Center.

The impressive, fully climate-controlled 342,000 square foot warehouse is strategically located at Exit 12 of the New Jersey Turnpike in the township of Woodbridge, New Jersey, within 10 miles of New York City, the Newark International Airport and the Port of New Jersey and Philadelphia, and just 60 miles from Philadelphia.

The Kenco Avenel Distribution Center was originally built in the third quarter of 2006 to serve the warehouse and logistics needs of a leading building materials supplier.  By opening its doors to the public, the full-scale facility is able to benefit a variety of customers, both large and small, offering a shared resource for greater flexibility, service and cost-efficiencies.

“Our goal is to provide a greater mix of products and services to be able to serve customers’ individual and growing needs,” added Mr. Wethington.  “We bring the full breadth and depth of Kenco’s resources to benefit each of our customers.”

Designed for flexibility and future growth, the state-of-the-art New Jersey warehouse has more than 30 docking doors, rail service with the capacity for eight railcars, indoor flatbed tarp service, four truck ramps, 36-foot clearance, Toyota forklifts, automated RF access points throughout and the Kenco-Developed Warehouse Management System.  The facility’s management, operating under a Six Sigma methodology, has expertise in areas including:  storage, cross-docking, shrink-wrapping, order fulfillment, pick-n-pack, kitting, local and long-haul distribution, return/reverse logistics and home delivery.

“Whether for start-up or established companies, this space is designed to grow and change along with the businesses under its roof,” said Wethington.  “And the shared resources of labor and equipment, utilities and waste removal translate into greater cost efficiencies for the customers.”

“The real advantage for customers is our ability to modify space to meet their specific needs,” said Wethington.  “We can customize the space, add freezers, section off portions and rack the facility for greater capacity, whatever it takes to help their operations run more smoothly and successfully.”

In addition, Wethington said they are able to offer flexible lease arrangements with annual renewal terms.  For more information about the Kenco Avenel Distribution Center and current lease opportunities, please call 423-643-3401.
